Come help us raise money to keep the library warm all winter! We're raising funds to pay for heating fuel, the new gazebo across from the Ester Post Office, and for materials for the library itself (we start construction next year!). Come have fun and: SEE celebrity judges decide which pie is the best! TASTE those blueberry pancakes! LISTEN to great music! |
About Emily Kurn: A songwriter and wordsmith since she was very small, Emily began a solo music career in 1997 when she was a student at UC Santa Cruz. She recorded her debut self-titled record shortly thereafter, and went on to record two more albums in the next three years. She transferred from UC Santa Cruz to Brandeis University (Boston, MA) in 2000, where she performed in the Club Passim New Faces Showcase. In 2003, she released "Whitebird" which has been praised by publications such as SingOut! Magazine and Performer Magazine. Four of its tracks were nominated for Just Plain Folks Awards, and one track received a Best Song Award from the Northern California Songwriter's Association. She was a finalist in 2007's Kerrville New Folk Contest and gained a seond-place win in the Woody Guthrie Songwriting Contest. When Emily is not hiding out in the Chugach Mountains of Southcentral Alaska, she can be seen in venues from California to New York. Her newest release, "Things Change," recorded at the Signature Sounds Studio with co-producer and engineer Mark Thayer, features a talented ensemble including Duke Levine on guitar, Lorne Entress on drums, and Richard Gates on bass. Emily will also be performing at the College Coffeehouse the day after the LiBerry Music Festival, August 27, Monday 8 pm, $5 cover at the door. About Nate Montgomery, Jay Stange, and Adam Watson: Since their release from the federal penitentiary, Adam Watson, Nate Montgomery, and Jay Stange have been attempting to repay their collective debt to society by writing songs that matter. Often, they are to be found playing recording sessions or supporting big Alaska music stars in rhythm section roles, but all have performed extensively as singer/songwriter guys too. Expect the unexpected as they play musical chairs with the instruments and the vocal microphones. | ||||
