Six events of strength, skill, quick-wittedness, and librarian shenanigans! The 2010 Lallapalooza & Book Bash will feature our first-ever JTEL Library Sextathlon. Below is a list of the basic rules for the tests of skill that competitors will face. The list of events:
Limited to six teams. Participating libraries will be listed on this website. Prizes will be awarded to the top three winning teams. Individual events must be entered into by a champion representing a participating team; team champions may win a prize even if the team does not. Three judges will ascertain the librarian-esqueness of each team: Judie Triplehorn (head librarian and director, Keith Mather Library, ret.), June Pinnell-Stephens (collections service manager, Noel Wien Library, ret.), and one other. To register, please print and fill out the registration form and mail to JTEL, PO Box 468, Ester, AK 99725, or scan and e-mail to library@esterrepublic.com. Limited to the first 6 teams. Winner will have bragging rights for a year. Also a prize or two. 1. Ruler Thwapping Contest Individual event. Points for technique, poise, presentation, resonance. 2. Ssshing Contest Individual event. Points for technique, presentation, facial content. 3. Costume Contest Team event. Will be judged in conjunction with the synchronized carting. Extra points given for best decoration of carts. 4. Body Boggle Boggle meets Twister. Pairs. Ability to spell words (up to 8 letters long) without falling. 5. Librarian Relay Race Team event. Relocating books from one (or more) locations to designated spot and alphabetizing by author then title. 6. Synchronized Carting Team event. Best show of book transportation to tasteful music. Requires at least one cart with 4 wheels, one cart with 2 wheels and one person carrying books. We will be able to provide one 4 wheel cart and one 2 wheel cart. May double any one of these. Music may be chosen by the team before or at the event. Points will be given for best use of limited space and routine. | |||||
